Yaquina Bay....North Side

Another beautiful day off! I can't believe it. Daisy and I took a walk through Yaquina Bay State Park. I didn't check to make sure, but I don't think anyone has to pay to use those telescopes. Way to go, State Parks!
The bridge seemed to look especially beautiful today. Could it be that I have been unappreciative of this magnificent structure, and it is always this beautiful? Do I have optical ignorance disorder??

This "trail" in the park seems to end quite abruptly. I am glad that I wasn't totally engulfed in my photography.
I thought, "enough with the bridge already." I put away my camera and turned to start to climb back up the hill to the road, and a freakin bald eagle flew out of the trees over to the middle of the channel, apparently looking for some food. I couldn't believe that it took me this long before I got my camera out. Pathetic, I tell you.

It flew across the bay and landed in a tree on the South Jetty. I thought that if I hung around for a minute or two I would be able to see it dive for a fish or something. No such luck, but oh, the bridge looked so beautiful.......

Carmen's 10th Birthday Party

This year Jennifer decided to hold Carmen's birthday at home. The girls were rowdy and hyped up on sugar. Perfect energy for a birthday party. They had to go outside to get some fresh air after eating a pizza dinner.

Jennifer, always keeping cool and collected throughout every party she throws.

Santos is obviously growing out of his play pin since he can easily escape, or at least crack his head open climbing out. I am sure it is a sad day for the parents.
Duck, duck, goose worked amazingly well for the size of the living room. Attention spans didn't last long though.
She looks very excited for her own personal birthday cake. I know she is on the inside.
Carmen has been waiting to open presents somewhat patiently all night. Her smile doesn't get any more real than that.

Yes, that is a mushroom "bobble head" with butterflies on it! How super cool.
Now time to look back at a year ago today........

Oh, Santos was so little.
We were at Abby's for the party last year. She wasn't stressed out then either.

She was happy with each present then too.

Mike Miller Trail

Another sunny weekend in November! I have been so lucky. It was musty and wet still through Mike Miller Trail, but the sun was shining through the trees.

This was a huge tree, and it was missing a huge part of itself. Very scary looking!

Two amanitas from a distance.
Much closer.
VSM's (Very Slimy Mushrooms:)

I have seen so many salamanders lately. They always seem to be running from me though. It couldn't be the bright flash in their eyes whenever I come around........could it?
That is totally where I would live if I were a critter.

Awe, its a baby!
Big slug on a little stick.

No November Rain!

Got up early again on Sunday (not as early as some, I'm sure) to enjoy another beautiful November day on the Oregon coast. The wind was calm and the sun was threatening to be bright. Jerry and I went under the bridge, through the jaws and into the ocean just before 8am. What a beautiful morning. There were a few pelicans around still (five to be exact). Hadn't seen one since the storm last week.

Turned out that I forgot to put my memory card back into my camera from the last time I downloaded pictures, so I was limited on my pictures. Probably a good thing, I was there to fish.
The moon has faded to the color of a cloud. Last night the moon was so bright it helped me spot a little fawn that was running along side the road even before my headlights reflected off its eyes. Now it is just a faint puff of matter, about to disappear for the rest of the daylight.
Looks like we are on a lake, and it felt that way too. We headed south in search of the cod. I think that is Table Mountain in the background??

Are we having fun yet?? This is literally minutes before our first bite.

First guy wasn't that big, but it sure got more exciting from there. Although this first catch wasn't the largest, he did provide the means to catch the next two.

He spit out a little cabazon fish that we used as bait to catch the next two lings. One of them weighed over 16 lbs.
That was the first big one. We got a smaller Copper rockfish later for bait and then got another ling that was around 16 lbs again. I have only fished for Ling Cod a few other times. I thought it was really fun. They seemed to fight in bursts, then rest for a few, then swim again. Each time it was very exciting.
We had limited out around 11 or so and headed back in. What a perfect trip.
I can maybe almost see a speck of what is the Yaquina Head Lighthouse. Maybe.
It is a really big lake, I have been kidding all along. Just kidding.
I love orange so much right now I am taking random pictures of everything that is orange. Weird.
There were those giant red belled sea nettles everywhere I looked. They didn't show up in the picture though, only me.
That was a huge flock of birds, but they weren't pelicans. Too fast.
